We'll pick you up at your hotel or location in the Dominican Republic in comfortable, minibus, if you prefer, and accompanied by an expert guide, and take you to see El Alcazar de Colon, the Catedral Primada de America, where the remains of Christopher Columbus rested until they were moved to the Columbus Lighthouse in 1992.
You will also visit the Plaza de Espana, dominated by the Columbus Alcazar (popularly known as the Columbus House) built by Diego Colon, Columbus's oldest son, in 1509. Los Tres Ojos caves, the Columbus Lighthouse, the National Aquarium, and the city's unforgettable shopping bazaars.
We'll walk along the Calle de las Damas (Street of the Ladies), the oldest and most romantic part of the city, visiting the Ozama Fortress, the oldest mansions in the Americas. Walk down cobble stone streets among the Spanish colonial architecture and imagine how things were back in the 1600s.
No other city in the Caribbean has a greater variety of restaurants. Santo Domingo is a great place to meet people. A lot of young single executives who come here to work end up leaving (if they leave) married to a Dominican.
Our One Love City Tour features the most important historical monuments in the Zona Colonial, plus time for shopping including a visit to the the colorful Mercado Modelo (Model Market), a huge indoor crafts market in the Colonial City. There you can bargain for Dominican arts and crafts and appreciate a bit of the life of everyday Dominicans.
